Ronaldo, Vardy And Griezman Nominated For FIFA FIFPro 2016 World XI Award [Full List]

FIFPro, the worldwide players’ union, and FIFA on Thursday announced the final 55-player shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro World 11 for the year 2016.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Vardy and Antoine Griezmann appeared on the list while Wayne Rooney failed to make the shortlist for the first time.

Portugal captain Ronaldo, led his country to victory at Euro 2016, while France forward Griezmann was the top player at the tournament.

Vardy was the only Englishman named among the 55 nominees for FIFPro’s 2016 World XI award, while the Manchester United and England captain missed out on the shortlist for the first time in the competition’s 12-year history.

That leaves Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo as the only ever-presents for an award based on votes from professional players from 75 countries.

Also absent from the list is Algeria international Riyad Mahrez the top Premier League player last season with surprise champions Leicester.

The 55-player short list:
